Better HR – May 2026 Product Update & New Features

Written by Myo Zaw Hein

May has been a major release month focused on core system security additions (including mobile root/jailbreak protection), the launch of the new Duration Tracker feature, and massive workflow cleanups for client administrators managing multi-country payrolls.

🚀 Key Feature Launches & Improvements

⏱️ The New Duration Tracker Feature

We have launched a native Duration Tracker designed for precision project time logging.

  • Real-Time Recording: Employees start and stop project durations on-demand via the mobile app. To ensure audit data integrity, manual time entries or backdating are entirely disabled.

  • Granular Policy Control: Admins can toggle mobile visibility and project assignments directly through the web policy portal.

🛡️ App Security Hardening

  • Mobile Environment Verification (v4.0.8): The mobile application now actively flags security environments. It triggers immediate security warnings upon detecting rooted Android or jailbroken iOS devices.

  • Anti-Spoofing & API Access Control: Enhanced validation protections against parameter tampering, unauthorized cross-department data snooping via ID manipulation, and GraphQL alias overloading.

  • Resigned Employee Data Lock: Fixed a critical data-state bug to ensure that all historic information for terminated/resigned employees remains completely locked against accidental changes during live payroll cycles.

🔄 Leave Settings & Rollovers

  • Maximum Balance Rollover Cap: Leave cycle settings now support custom rollover parameters. Instead of being forced to transfer All Remaining Leave, admins can define a specific maximum cap of hours/days allowed into the next cycle.

  • Document Attachment Thresholds: Admins can now configure a minimum duration threshold before a medical certificate or supporting document is requested (e.g., only requiring attachments for leaves extending 3 or more days).

🌍 Localization & Regional Payroll Updates

Pakistan

  • EOBI & Social Security Compliance: Re-engineered the calculation structures for both employee and employer contributions. Contribution receipts and government statutory reports have been fully updated.

  • Data Processing: Resolved critical indexing bugs causing "undefined index" responses on historical salary templates and fixed export stalls inside the Payroll Clean View page.

Indonesia

  • PPh 21 (TER Method) Tax Splits: The Indonesia payroll matrix now cleanly segments Regular PPh21 Tax from Irregular Wage PPh21 Tax (bonuses, THR, and one-time allowances).

  • Tax Bracket Classifications: Added a Compensation Type filter dropdown in the profile view to safely parse monthly salaries vs. daily wages under the new statutory TER A, B, and C tables.

Thailand & Vietnam

  • Thailand Parent Allowance Correction: Corrected parental tax allowances to explicitly check the statutory 30,000 THB per-parent limit (resolving a bug displaying 60,000 THB).

  • Vietnam Banking & Policy Defaults: Added native support for HSBC Bank data exports. For Vietnam policy frameworks, newly generated allowances and deductions will now default to Auto-Disabled.

🛠️ Performance & File Management Cleanups

  • The Mass Import Relocation Project: To centralize administration tasks, the manual upload gates for Salary, Allowance/Deduction, and Bank Information files have been completely moved out of standard settings and into the dedicated Payroll Data Center.

  • Proration Engine Overhaul: Introduced advanced calculation checks for mid-period salary changes. The system now supports basic salary proration by Working Day Custom Days (automatically filtering out public holidays and structural off-days).

🐞 Critical Bug Fixes

  • The Half-Day Leaf-Shift Loop: Fixed a complex scheduling conflict where applying a half-day leave on an existing half-day shift erroneously generated an "Absent" flag in the final Summarize Report.

  • Late Minutes Aggregation: Fixed a parsing bug calculating late penalties minute-by-minute instead of matching the net monthly late minutes threshold.

  • Mobile Sync Fixes: Resolved an unhandled exception causing random app dropouts when loading complex organizational charts or checking into multi-location geo-fenced offices.

[!IMPORTANT] App Store Action Required: Security features, including jailbreak detection and real-time duration tracking, require a formal container change. Please ensure your workforce updates their mobile applications to v4.0.8 directly through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
