Adding an Employee's Promotion in Better HR

If an employee has been promoted to a new role, you can easily update their position, salary, and related details using the Promotion feature in Better HR.


✅ Step 1: Go to the “Employees” Tab

From the left-hand side menu, click on the Employees tab to open the Employee Directory.


✅ Step 2: Click the “Promote” Button

In the top-right corner of the Employee Directory, click the Promote button.
A promotion request form will appear.


✅ Step 3: Fill Out the Promotion Form

Complete the form with the following information:

Field

Description

Employee

Type or select the employee’s name from the dropdown

Position

Select the new position from dropdown (If not created, you can type a new one)

Manager

Choose the new reporting manager from dropdown

Department

Select the new department from dropdown

Salary

Enter the new salary (If unchanged, click Skip)

Probation Period

Define both start and end dates if applicable

Location

Select the new work location

Policy

Choose the applicable policy (if changed)

Effective Date

Select the promotion effective date from the calendar

Attendance Settings

Select the attendance setting if updated

Approver

Assign the approver responsible for this promotion

Announcement Title

Example: Congratulations on Your Promotion!

Announcement Content

Example: We’re thrilled to announce [Employee Name] has been promoted to [New Position] effective [Date].

Request Message

Add a note to the approver (e.g., Please review and approve this promotion.)

Job Description

Add or update the job description if the role is changing

Attachment (optional)

Upload supporting documents if needed

After filling all required fields, click Confirm to submit the promotion request.


✅ Step 4: Approval by Manager or Approver

Once submitted, the request will go to the assigned approver(s) for review.

Approvers can approve or reject the promotion via:

🔹 Better HR Mobile App:

  • Go to the Inbox tab

  • Select the Promotion Request

  • Tap Approve or Reject

🔹 Better HR Web:

  • Go to the Inbox from the dashboard

  • Open the Promotion Request

  • Click Approve or Reject
