Overview: Leave

The Leave Management Module helps HR and employees easily manage and track leave requests, approvals, and balances in one centralized system.

It supports:

  • Various leave types (Annual, Sick, Maternity, Unpaid, Custom types)

  • Leave entitlement setup based on employee type, location, or policy

  • Automated leave balance calculations and accruals

  • Transparent approval workflows with notifications

  • Real-time leave tracking and reporting

How the Leave Module Works

The Leave Module in Better HR System allows HR teams and managers to efficiently track, manage, and analyze employee leave.

It includes two main sections:

  • Balance View – View and manage each employee’s leave balance by leave type (e.g., Annual, Sick, Unpaid).

  • Analytics View – Analyze leave usage trends, total headcount, and export reports for better decision-making.

Leave entitlements and cycles are controlled by assigned policies. Once a leave policy is applied to an employee, the system will automatically generate leave based on the policy’s configuration — whether it's a yearly cycle, monthly accrual, or based on the employee’s join date.

View Leave Balances by Employee and Leave Type

Click the Leave tab — you will be directed straight to the Balance sub-tab.

In this tab, you can view:

  • A list of employees

  • Their assigned leave policy

  • Job join date

  • Service year

  • Leave balances by type (e.g., Annual Leave, Sick Leave, Unpaid Leave), showing:

    • Available: Total entitled leave

    • Taken: Leave already used

    • Remaining: Leave left to use
