This section introduces what the Attendance tab is and what you can find inside.

The Attendance tab in Better HR gives HR and admins real-time access to employee attendance data. When selected, it opens directly to the Record page, where you can see each employee’s attendance for the day—including actual check-in/check-out times, scheduled shift times, and attendance status like On Time, Late, On Leave, or Off Day.

From this view, you can:

  • Monitor which employees are currently online or offline

  • Compare scheduled vs actual working hours (in both timestamp and decimal format)

  • Identify employees who started late or early

  • Check the check-in/check-out methods used (e.g., mobile app, web)

Below the Record section, there are three sub-tabs designed to help HR manage more advanced attendance workflows:

  • Duty Roster – Schedule and assign employee shifts. You can also export or import duty rosters in bulk.

  • Map View (Beta) – A live map that displays the geographic locations of employee check-ins, making it easy to track field staff or remote workers.

  • Location Snapshot – Employees can use the Better HR mobile app to send their live location to managers multiple times a day. This feature is especially useful for marketing and field employees. HR/Admins can also review or report these locations with detailed latitude and longitude info from the system.

How the Attendance Tab Works

This section walks through the functionality and how HR/admin can use it step by step.

Viewing Daily Attendance (Record Tab)

On the Record page, you can:

  • View each employee’s actual check-in/check-out time for today

  • Compare their scheduled shift hours

  • Check status labels (On Time, Late, On Leave, etc.)

  • See their total hours worked and any deviations from the schedule

  • Scroll to track late/early starts and check-in methods

  • Managers or HR/Admins can also manually add or edit attendance records in case of missed check-ins or corrections

Managing Shifts with Duty Roster

In the Duty Roster sub-tab, you can:

  • Assign shifts for individuals or groups

  • Import or export rosters using templates

  • Manage weekly or monthly schedules from a single view

Tracking Attendance Locations with Map View

The Map View provides:

  • A real-time map showing where employees have checked in

  • Visual insight into remote or field worker attendance

  • Geographic proof of attendance locations

Using Location Snapshot Effectively

With Location Snapshot, employees can:

  • Send their live location to managers via the mobile app

  • Submit updates multiple times per day

  • Help managers track movement throughout the day (especially for mobile teams)
